Tati Concessions (1896)
A triangular piece of Matabeleland was first conceded to Samuel Edwards in February 1887 and then subsequently to Tati Concessions Limited, a mining company.
What stamps are there
In 1896 the company ordered a set of stamps from De La Rue for fiscal use on mining permits and the like. Produced in sheets of 6 by 10 there were six denominations the 1/- deep carmine, 2/6d deep blue, 5/- violet, 10/- sage green, £1 pale blue and £5 orange. All values were of the design (left). The company ordered 5000 of each value.
Company documents bearing the stamps still turn up from time to time (Runner Post 49-50, p1229), as do complete mint sets of the stamps.
